Long time, no speak…
Hi there my PUgly Blogsters!
Long time, no speak. Sorry that we’ve ignoring you of late but its been a hectic few months for us down at Pretty Ugly HQ.
Back in June we had our 90’s night which went down a storm. We released our inner Ab Fab in our Clueless inspired plaid & pigtails while blasting out the tunes of our youth. The dancefloor was a sea of flannel, so it was a little toasty considering it was during our very limited Scottish summer. Check out our Spotify playlist from the night here.
Come July it was holiday time, but we still found time to DJ at T in the Park for Fancy Dress Friday. We came back from our summer break in Aug with Woodenbox as guest DJs and yet another packed floor.
In September we celebrated our annual September Issue with you lovely stylish lot and the Fashion Police were out in force. We were also joined on the decks by JP from our favourite Edinburgh club night Magic Nostalgic, look out for more to come from them next year, we’ve got some plans up our sleeves! Then this month we got the leathers and spandex on for Rocktober. It was a rawkus night of air guitars and power ballads, hair metal and riot grrrl, and we’ve got the playlist to prove it here.
As you can tell, just like X Factor – we love a theme, but for once we are going back to basics and doing what we do best next month. Three girls, two decks and one rammed dancefloor. Join us for all the usual Pretty Ugly fun at The Admiral Bar on Sat 10 Nov.
November is proving to be quite the busy month. We’re also supporting the amazing Ladyhawke at Glasgow’s Òran Mór on Wed 7 Nov plus we’ll be DJing at the Tartan Clef Awards Aftershow on Sat 17 Nov – we can not wait!
You can expect to hear some Girls Aloud, Madonna, Queen, Santigold, Alabama Shakes, Azealia Banks, Pulp, Blur, New Order, Cut Copy, Primal Scream, Ladyhawke, LCD Soundsystem, Pet Shop Boys, Robyn, Arcade Fire, Beyonce, Lady Gaga, Digitalism, Super Furry Animals, TV on the Radio, Belle & Sebastian, Human League, Friendly Fires, Metronomy, Two Door Cinema Club, Johnny Cash, Alt-J, The Shirelles, Real Estate, Arab Strap, Django Django, Hot Chip and plenty other indie pop goodness to shake your rump to.
Come and join us, every second Saturday of the month, downstairs at The Admiral Bar, 72a Waterloo Street, Glasgow
